The Ottawa Senators have been put up for sale by owners Anna and Olivia Melnyk. The two daughters inherited the franchise following the death of their father, long-time owner Eugene Melnyk, when he passed away at 62 in March 2022.
The most recent valuation was at US$ 525 Million as of December 2021, 4 months before Melnyk's passing.
One of the biggest news stories to come out of the Senators in recent weeks has been Ryan Reynolds showing his interest in purchasing the team, all with a simple tweet.
Last night, Ryan Reynolds made an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon where he addressed the rumors of his interest in purchasing the Ottawa Senators, and well, let's just say he is interested.

"I am trying to buy the Senators, it's very expensive, so I would need a partner with deeper pockets". Said Reynolds, when asked about the rumors.
"I grew up in Vancouver, but I also grew up in Ottawa and I spent a long time in Vanier, which is a little town right outside Ottawa," Reynolds said to Fallon.
Ryan Reynolds has confirmed his interest in purchasing the team, although experts have recently said it would be extremely unlikely.
The Senators could be sold for well over US$ 1 Billion, and with a net worth estimated to be around US$ 150 Million, purchasing the Senators would be extremely difficult for the actor.
Reynolds currently co-owns Welsh soccer club Wrexham A.F.C., which play in the fifth-tier of English soccer.
