Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tucker Poolman has been suspended two games for high-sticking Colorado Avalanche forward Kiefer Sherwood NHLPA announced on early Friday afternoon.
Poolman initially received a match penalty in the third period of the Canucks loss to the Avalanche for swinging his stick at Sherwood‘s head.
Poolman was given a 5-minute major penalty on the play served by Canuck’s forward Nils Hoglander, and was later sent out of the game. Luckily Sherwood was not injured on the play.
The Canucks allowed another power play goal for Colorado during that major penalty and fell behind by a score of 7-1.
Poolman currently has 1 assist for the Canucks in 13 games so far this season And has only amassed 36 career penalty minutes in 133 games with no history of suspension in his short NHL career.
