Top NHL prospect assigned to AHL following poor pre-season performance

On Saturday morning, the Seattle Kraken announced that Shane Wright has been re-assigned to the AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds.


The 19-year-old has struggled to pave a path to the Kraken lineup, after a poor performance in the Pre-Season.

Wright scored 0 goals and had 1 assist in 3 games this Pre-Season.


In 8 career games, he has scored 1 goal and put up 1 assist with Seattle last season.


His only goal coming against the Montreal Canadiens on December 6, 2022, briefly before being sent back to the AHL.

The Kraken coaching staff have handled this "kid", and yes that is what he was when he was first drafted, all wrong. He should have been sent back to the O.H.L. last year instead of sitting in the press box watching N.H.L. games, and perhaps gotten his mojo back. He was fun to watch, playing in his first year in KIngston, until covid hit and then every thing went down hill from there.
