The Injury bug strikes again for the back-to-back Stanley cup champions, who already had been missing their best player Nikita Kucherov for nearly the entire season.
Brayden Point will be out indefinitely with an Upper-Body Injury, the Tampa Bay Lightning confirmed on Twitter Sunday Night.
Point suffered the injury during Saturday night's game against the New Jersey Devils. Around the half way mark in the third period, Ryan Graves sent Point crashing into the boards.
Immediately following, Point was in distress and was awarded a penalty shot on the play, with which he hit the cross bar.
No update regarding the severity of the injury has been given yet, and it is currently unknown when he will be returning to the ice for Tampa Bay.
Point currently has 13 points (7 Goals, 6 Assists) in 16 games with the Lightning this season. He is one of the best players on this Lightning team.
Point had 92 points (41 goals, 51 assists) in 79 games with Tampa Bay in 2018-19, and since has been in the top-three scoring each season for their team.
Tampa Bay is currently sitting in 3rd in the Atlantic Division behind the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers.
