Steven Stamkos has been recently linked to a division rival team of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and could be leaving by the end of the 2023-24 season in Unrestricted Free Agency.

The Bruins emerge

According to reports from Kevin Paul DuPont of The Boston Globe, If Stamkos does intend to leave the team in Free Agency, the Boston Bruins would be the frontrunners to sign him.

Stamkos, 33, had another strong season last year. He played in 81 games, recording 34 goals and 50 assists (84 points).

Meanwhile Boston, coming off their best season in league history, just lost both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci down the middle. They're now attempting to fill the hole by finding a centerman who will be highly compatible with their many skilled wingers.

A Bolts Icon

After being selected 1st Overall in the 2008 NHL draft, Stamkos immediately made an impact on his new team. He started off slow with just 23g, 23a, 46 points in his rookie campaign, but he would go on to score 51 goals in his sophomore season.

Proving this was no fluke, he would then put up 45 goals the following year, then a career high 60 goals in 2011-12.

Stamkos won two Stanley Cups in back-to-back seasons (2019-20, 2020-21) with the Bolts, and is hungry for more.

Stamkos has been held back several times due to injuries, however, when healthy he is undoubtedly one of the best goal scorers in the NHL.
