Updated: Jan 8, 2022

On Friday the San Jose Sharks announced that General Manager Doug Wilson will be taking a temporary leave of absence from his General Duties.

Assistant GM Joe Will immediately is stepping in to handle the hockey clubs operations as interim. Doug Wilson has been the GM of the Sharks since May 13, 2003. This makes him the second longest-tenured GM in the entire NHL.

Here is an official statement from the San Jose Sharks regarding the current ongoing situation.

During his 14-year tenure with the San Jose Sharks, Doug Wilson has won one President's trophy (2009), one Stanley cup Finals appearance (2016) and made 14 playoff appearances.

Wilson was Inducted into the hall-of-fame earlier this month. He was the most prolific goal-scoring defenseman the Chicago Blackhawks ever had.
