Several teams to have reached out in an attempt to acquire one of the KHL's top stars, according to multiple reports on Saturday morning.
Sasha Chmelevski has been one of the top players in the KHL for a second straight season. He has now been granted permission to engage with NHL clubs, and multiple teams have shown interest in acquiring the superstar, Kevin Weekes reports.
The San Jose Sharks currently hold the rights to the 24-year-old.
The Vancouver Canucks are one of several teams to have shown interest in acquiring Chmelevski, Rick Dhaliwal reports.
In 24 career games with San Jose, he has just 10 Assists. He then went on to play in the KHL for the 2022-23, and 2023-24 seasons where he was one of the leagues top scoring players.
In 2022-23 with Ufa Salavat Yulayev, he would score 26 goals and 48 points through 67 games.
Now in his 2023-24 campaign, he would score 21 goals and 43 points in just 49 games.
More teams are expected to be announced in the Chmelevski sweepstakes in the coming days.
