The news has been going around lately that Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson has been trying to trade away his top players to assist in a rebuild since announcing the Blackhawks were entering a rebuild at the 2022 Trade Deadline.
Kane is currently in the final year of an 8-year contract carrying a cap hit of $10,500,000, his longest contract since being drafted 1st overall by the Blackhawks in 2007.
For weeks there has been speculation on where Patrick Kane will end up, and some of the teams mentioned already in the Kane sweepstakes have been the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
It appears a new team has entered the sweepstakes. That team is the Columbus Blue Jackets.
According to NHL insider Nick Alberga, the Blue Jackets are a team to watch in the Patrick Kane mix.

Columbus has made several big moves this off-season in an attempt to establish themselves once again as a playoff contender.
They landed the established superstar Johnny Gaudreau who's coming off a career-high 115-point season, and also managed to lock up former 40-goal scorer Patrik Laine for a 4-year, $34,800,000 contract.
However, cap space for the Blue Jackets looks limited and they may have to make some moves to acquire the space to take on a monster contract like Kane's.
