The Canucks have cleaned house. First it was the head coach, now its the GM.
(Now confirmed by TSN and the Canucks)
Canucks fans are buzzing as reports are coming out that the former GM Jim Benning, and Assistant GM John Weisbrod have been fired by the Vancouver Canucks.
Here is an official statement from the Canucks on Instagram.
This is following the reports that Travis Green has been relieved of his coaching duties, and Bruce Boudreau has been hired to takeover the head coach position.
Chris Gear is expected to take over as interim GM for the time being while a replacement is found.
Irfan Gaffar had initially made the announcement, followed by Rick Dhaliwal.
Jim Benning had been the GM of the Canucks since taking over Mike Gillis in 2014.
Some of Benning’s highly praised moves include drafting Quinn Hughes, Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson and Vasily Podkolzin. As well as the acquisitions of Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Conor Garland.
