When three teams passed up on Makar during the 2017 NHL draft, nobody expected he would turn into one of the best defensemen in the world.
After four seasons in the NHL, Makar is closing in on making history. He is about to accomplish something that not even the great Bobby Orr has done.
Cale Makar, 24, sits just two points shy of 200 career points. A big milestone in itself for a defenseman to reach. However, If he can reach that total in the next 7 games, he will become the first defenseman in league history to record 200 points in his first 200 games played.
With 10 points in his last 5 games, this is a feat that Makar should be able to handily reach.
Makar already became just the third defenseman ever to win the Norris, Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup all in the same season, and he is just getting started.
