Rangers prospect Nils Lundkvist has requested a trade and will not be attending training camp, according to his agent Claude Lemieux.

Lemieux said that the 22-year-old defenseman will not be reporting for the Rangers main camp next week. They've requested a trade and seem to plan on sitting tight until that happens.

"I don't really have any update on it, Rangers GM Drury said Thursday at MSG Training Center in Tarrytown, Obviously, we think he's a real good player. We drafted him. We've worked with him the last number of years. We certainly hope he's here next week. I don't have a definitive answer as to what his plans are right now.

The 5'11" defenseman has played in 25 games with the Rangers, scoring one goal and three assists in his young NHL career.

Lundkvist was selected 28th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2018 NHL draft.
