On Monday morning, the Minnesota Wild announced that head coach Dean Evason, and assistant coach Bob Woods have been relieved of their coaching duties immediately.
General Manager Bill Guerin released the following statement.
"Dean did an excellent job during his tenure with the Minnesota Wild, especially as head coach of the team" said Guerin. "I am very thankful for his hard work and dedication to our organization".
"I would also like to thank Bob for his hard work during his time as an assistant coach with the wild" said Guerin. "I wish Dean, Bob and their families all the best for the future".
John Hynes will reportedly take over the head coach role. The previous coach of the Nashville Predators.
Minnesota currently sit seventh in the Central division with a 5-10-4 record, after losing seven straight games.
They're taking a similar approach as the Edmonton Oilers, who saw a massive spark in team success following the departure of head coach Jay Woodcroft.
