KHL team captain scores embarrassing own-goal in tournament loss

During a KHL game on Sunday, August 28, during the final game of the TANACO cup preseason tournament, Ufa's captain Grigori Panin scored this awful own-goal during a 4-1 loss to Yaroslavl.


Panin was attempting to make a simple back-handed pass from behind his goaltender when he accidentally shot the puck into the goalies leg. Panin immediately knew the mistake he had just made.

That is one that Panin definitely would want back.


Panin, at 36-years-old, is a very well known player around the KHL. He has been there his entire professional career, playing with three different teams. The defenseman never was drafted into the NHL.
