A head coach in the NHL will miss time due to a required surgery, according to reports.
David Quinn to receive surgery
The San Jose Sharks announced on Monday morning that head coach David Quinn is to undergo Hip Replacement surgery during the All-Star break.
He is expected to return to the Sharks for their first practice after the All-Star break.
San Jose's last game will take place on Januaru 31 against their California rival Anaheim Ducks. They will then have an extended 14-day break during and after the All-Star weekend.
The Sharks (13-32-4) currently sit 31st overall in the NHL standings. Only ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks.
