Top-5 Pick may be on the move soon

There is a strong chance that a top-5 draft pick from the 2021 NHL draft may be on the move shortly, after new reports emerge.

With the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NHL draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets selected the highly touted prospect Kent Johnson. A native of Port Moody, BC, Johnson is a University of Michigan Alumni who spent two years with their NCAA team.

The reason there is a high possibility of the Blue Jackets moving on from Johnson is because the 21-year-old centerman has recently changed to CAA (Creative Artists) Agency, a sports agency based out of Los Angeles, California.

This is significant because Seth Jones and Pierre-Luc Dubois, former Blue Jackets, also switched to CAA shortly before the trades that sent them out of Columbus.

There are other reasons that fans have speculated a trade brewing for Johnson.

Kent Johnson has been a healthy scratch in two games for the Blue Jackets this season. He has been one of the better players in Columbus, who currently sit 3-4-2 and 7th in the Metropolitan division.

He's scored 1 goal and 2 assists in seven games he's suited up for the Blue Jackets in 2023-24.

In his young career, he's maintained an impressive 0.48 Points/Game pace with 17 goals, 46 points in 95 games, putting him fifth among players from his respective 2021 draft class.

Will Kent Johnson be traded?
