On Saturday, it was announced that we lost former 1st-round pick Sergei Bautin, who passed away at the young age of 55.
Bautin, who had the nickname "Bam Bam", appeared in 132 National Hockey League games in his career.
His greatest accolade was winning an Olympic gold medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville.
He was a member of the Winnipeg Jets, who drafted him 17th overall, as well as the Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks for short periods of time.
Over his short career, he scored 5 goals and 25 assists in 132 games played.
From there, he would make several appearances playing in the Swedish Elite League (SEL), and the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
There has been no confirmed cause of death. Our condolences are with the family & friends of Sergei at this time.
