Evander Kane is in the spotlight once again, but this time for a dirty knee-on-knee hit on Kings defenseman Sean Durzi. The hit was completely unnecessary, with which he was assessed a two-minute penalty on the play.
The National Hockey League Department of Player Safety has fined Kane $5,000 which is the maximum allowed under the CBA.
Surprisingly a five-minute major wasn't given on the play.
This is not the first time Kane has been the center of attention for the wrong reasons since joining Edmonton, just last week, Kane received FOUR penalties in only 8:47 minutes.
Four penalties in a single game is impressive, however, four penalties in under 10 minutes seems almost impossible.
Here’s what happened: Kane received a roughing penalty at 19:06 of the second period. He came out of the box at 1:06 of the third, stayed on the ice, and took an interference penalty at 1:38. Then, after getting out at 3:38, the 30-year-old took a tripping penalty at 4:32. And finally, to cap it all off, Kane took another tripping penalty at 6:47 after hopping out again at 6:32.
