The Edmonton Oilers have just made a big move to secure their back-end by signing elite goaltender Jack Campbell to a massive contract.
The contract terms are five-years at $25M, or an annual $5M cap hit.
At 30-years-old, Campbell was a front-runner for the Vezina trophy for much of last season after an impressive start to his 2021-22 campaign.
However, his playoff performance is likely the reason Toronto had to let the goaltender go.
In 47 games, the goaltender had a save % of .914, and a 2.53 GAA, a significant fall off from the magnificent start he had.
In 7 playoff games, his save % was .897, with a GAA OF 3.15, as Toronto got eliminated in 7 games. Very lackluster.
Will this signing work out for the Edmonton Oilers?
