Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty had wrist surgery on Monday and will be out for the rest of the season, announced by the team on Monday afternoon.

Drew underwent successful wrist surgery and will not be returning this season, or to join the team in the playoffs if they make it.

He is expected to make a full recovery and join the team next season.

Doughty was injured in a game against the Boston Bruins on March 7 and has not played since. Prior to the injury, he had 31 points (7 goals, 24 assists) in 39 games.

This was his 14th season for the Kings, since being drafted 2nd overall by the team in the 2008 NHL draft.
