Crosby believes McDavid will hit major Milestone that has not been reached for 35 years

Connor McDavid is undeniably the greatest player of our generation. And now he has received some high praise from Sidney Crosby, one of the All-Time greats.

McDavid reached new heights in the 2022-23 season, after becoming the first player since 1996 to record 150 or more points in a single season. McDavid finished the year with 153 points in 82 games, but he could elevate his game to another level this year, according to Sidney Crosby.

During an interview with NHL.com's Mike Zeisberger, Crosby said that he wouldn't bet against McDavid scoring 170 points during the upcoming 2023-24 season.

"I mean, I didn't think 150 was going to be in the cards for him but he found a way to get there," Crosby said. "So, I don't think anything is out of the question for him as far as numbers are concerned."

"He just finds a way to find another level time and time again, so I would never bet against him."

The last time a player reached 170 points in the NHL was during the 1988-89 season, when Mario Lemieux recorded an unbelievable 199 points in 76 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

For McDavid to hit the 170 point mark, he would have 2.073 points per game for an entire 82 game season. Something that even the best player in the world might have a hard time accomplishing in the modern NHL.

In NHL history, only two players have reached 170-Points. Wayne Gretzky (6 times) and Mario Lemieux (1 time).

Will McDavid reach 170 points this season?
