Canucks 4, Blackhawks 1 - Post Game: Chelsea's Dagger (Oct 21)

Burroughs VS Stillman

The Vancouver Canucks (2-2-1) take the 4-1 victory on this Thursday night thriller in Chicago. The Canucks play the spoiler on a night that was celebrating Patrick Kane's legacy with the Blackhawks. The canucks held Kane a -2 with 1 assist in 22:46 ice time. the shots on goal don't tell the full story of the game, with the Blackhawks leading in shots 30-25.

Quinn Hughes surprised everyone with his return to the lineup and had a very memorable game, playing great defensively and putting up 1 assist and +1 in 22:06 ice time, not quite the ice time numbers he had been putting up earlier on in this road trip.

A back and forth first period

Jason Dickinson opened the scoring 6:36 in the 1st period with a beautiful snapshot to put the Canucks up 1-0 early in the game.

Jason Dickinson celebrates his first goal as a Vancouver Canuck, and it was a beauty. That was some Big Dickinson Energy

Assisted by Matthew Highmore (1) and Nils Hoglander (3)

The Canucks score a pair in the second

Tanner Pearson came out strong in the second period scoring his 1st goal of the season on a beautiful tip-in on Quinn Hughes snipe at 9:55 in the 2nd to make it 2-1 Canucks. All of that wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for Conor Garlands skilled play in the corner to get the puck over to Quinn Hughes.

The Brocket is back. The Canucks leading scorer last season made his debut on Tuesday night against Buffalo, you can read about that game right here ...

Boeser had a much better game tonight, scoring the Canucks lone powerplay goal on the 2 Man Advantage at 18:21 in the 2nd to give the canucks a strong 3-1 Lead heading into the 3rd Period.

Garland seals it

The third period got very intense toward the end when Chicago pulled Lankinen and had a late game powerplay to try to crawl back into the game. Thatcher Demko stood on his head to keep the Vancouver Canucks on top in this game.

Conor Garland scored the lone goal of the third period to make it 4-1 Canucks at 18:58 In the 3rd.

Elias Pettersson had a devastating 20% faceoff percentage tonight, but atleast he put up an assist in 19:43 ice time. We are still waiting on the old Pettersson to make his return to the Canucks lineup.

Quinn Hughes milestone night

If you're a Canucks fan, its pretty safe to assume you know Quinn Hughes is a damn good hockey player. he recorded his 100th career point tonight, it only took him 133 games to do so.

That puts him in the history books as the 10th quickest defenseman in NHL history to record 100 points. Welcome back huggy bear, you were missed in your short absence.

He is the quickest Canucks defenseman to ever reach 100 points, and the 10th fastest Canucks skater of all-time to do so.

Tyler Myers actually played good ... ?

Tyler Myers had what I believe was his best game in 3 seasons as a Vancouver Canuck. posting 2 blocks, a +2 and 1 Assist in 21:37 Ice time.

He potentially saved a goal halfway thru the second with a scary block in the shin, he limped off the ice to the bench but returned to the game moments later and continued to play spectacular.

Conor Garland continues to dazzle

What a pickup this guy was. Conor Garland has been an early fan favorite so far this season. he has currently 6 points in 5 games .

Conor Garland Sinking the dagger into Patrick Kane appreciation night & topping it off with an assist. What a hustle from the penalty box ! This guy is scary good. He fights, shows heart, puts up points and plays with a lot of skill for such a small forward (5'10" 165Lbs)

My 3 stars of the Game

1st Star - Tyler Myers (1A)

2nd Star - Thatcher Demko (.967 SV% - 30 SAVES)

3rd Star - Jason Dickinson (1G)

Whats Next

The Vancouver Canucks finish off their road trip on Saturday night when they face off the Seattle Kraken (1-3-1) in Seattle's home opener. Then on tuesday the Canucks return home (finally) to face the Minnesota Wild at rogers arena at 7PM (PST).
