Canucks' Thatcher Demko injured, Arturs Silovs recalled from Abbotsford

As the Canucks playoff hopes fade away, Thatcher Demko, all-star goaltender, is likely to miss the final week of the season due to a sudden injury.

Demko, the 26-year-old starting goaltender that led the Canucks on an nearly impossible surge into a playoff race, will spend the remainder of the Canucks regular season recovering.

Arturs Silovs is the emergency back-up from the AHL affiliate Abbotsford Canucks, and Spencer Martin will be getting the start against the Seattle Kraken tonight.



This season, Demko went 33-22-7 with a 2.72 GAA and a .915 SV%. His 64 games played (61 starts) are the 3rd most amongst NHL goalies this season.


Demko has been a focal point around the NHL this season because of his constant spectacular highlight reel saves, check this one out from March 28 in Dallas.


Spencer Martin put himself into the spotlight earlier this season when he started three games in the absence of Thatcher Demko.


Martin went 1-0-2, however, his 1.59 GAA and .958 SV% brought him into the conversation of having him become the Canucks back-up goaltender going forward.
