Bruce Boudreau shares his choice for the Canucks next captain

The Vancouver Canucks have remained captainless since trading Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders back in January, and are looking to have the vacancy filled by the time the 2023-24 campaign begins.

The Canucks have a handful of talented players looking to have an impact this year, and an entirely new coaching staff at the helm. After the way last season went for them, things only have room to improve.

Canucks fans are eagerly waiting for a new captain to be named. There are two names that come to mind when you think of leadership on this team, Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson.

With the correct player in the captaincy role, the Canucks may find more success.

Boudreau's perspective

The former Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau has shared his opinion on the subject.

"I think you guys know who my pick is already. I think there would be a couple of good guys, I think Petey (Elias Pettersson) if he stays there is going to be a great captain."

The one issue with Pettersson, the Canucks still have to extend his contract beyond the upcoming 2023-24 season. With just a $7,350,000 cap hit, the superstar is expected to receive a major raise in pay, upwards of $10 Million.

If Pettersson decides to stay put, he will make a fantastic captain and steer the Canucks in the right direction.
