On Sunday morning, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they have relieved head coach jay Woodcroft and assistant coach Dave Manson of their coaching duties.
Hartford Wolf Pack head coach Kris Knoblauch will assume head coaching duties with the Oilers, he will be joined by assistant coach Paul Coffey.
This is following a 3-9-1 start which has the Oilers currently 31st in the NHL standings.
Edmonton beat Seattle 4-1 on the road on Saturday night, so the move to fire Woodcroft the following morning came as a surprise.
The firing of Woodcroft comes as a shock to many fans around the league, as he's led the Oilers to a Western Conference final, and multiple other series wins in the postseason.
