On Thursday afternoon, the Columbus Blue Jackets made a surprising move of placing one of their goaltenders on waivers.
Blue Jackets place Martin on waivers
The Columbus Blue Jackets placed goaltender Spencer Martin on waivers, Chris Johnston reports.
Reports indicate that the purpose of placing him on waivers was for the purpose of being assigned to the Cleveland Monsters, to make room for the return of Boone Jenner.
The 28-year-old goaltender has been struggling as of late. His combined 14 goals allowed in his previous three starts has been a concern for the team, and his save percentage doesn't back him up much either.
in 13 games played, Martin has a 3.65 GAA and .887 SV%. It doesn't help much that he's faced some tough opponents in his previous five starts when his numbers started to drop off significantly.
In his previous five, he's faced Boston 3x, Toronto and the New York Islanders.
