There has been plenty of speculation around the league about what the future holds for Auston Matthews. Will he stay with the Leaf's for the entirety of his career? Or will he take his elite goal-scoring talents elsewhere.
The 25-year-old has two more years under a 5-year contract with an AAV of $11,640,250, and will be looking skywards of up to $14 million when his current contract expires.
Tim and friends recently shared with us what Auston Matthews thoughts are on his future with the Maple Leaf's. That is when he answered with:
"When that time comes we will deal with it. I think I've been clear, i've loved my time here... I consider it home now".
"The city has embraced me and my family. I've just grown comfortable in my own skin here, it's such a special place to play."
Matthews scored 60 goals and had 106 points in 73 games last season, and shows no signs of slowing down as we head toward 2022-23.
Many speculate the superstar may be headed home to play in Arizona. However, after what Matthews said this morning, he may intend to retire as a Maple Leaf.
