The hockey community mourns the loss of yet another young talented athlete.
Jori Jones, freshman goaltender of the Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team has unfortunately lost her life in a car accident in west-central Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. She was in a vehicle with three other teammates at the time.
At approximately 12:40 PM, the four teammates were in a Chevy Equinox that was heading eastbound on Hwy. 40 - Approximately 20 miles west of Willmar - when a collision happened with a Dodge caravan at the intersection of Hwy. 29.
Jori Jones, 19, was then taken to Montevideo hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Her teammates, 19-year-old Gianna Gasparini, of Lakeville, 20-year-old Kayla Bluhm, of Chisago City, and 19-year-old Lily Mortenson, of Champlin, were all taken to Montevideo Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan, a 28-year-old Benson woman, was taken to Benson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jones, Gasparini, Bluhm and Mortensen were freshmen on the 2023 Gustavus hockey team that defeated Amherst College 2-1 in triple overtime to win the Division III national championship.
