The Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf is the latest aging super star to announce their retirement following the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, as reported by Sportsnet and multiple sources.
The 36-year-old his entire 17 year career with the Anaheim Ducks, which saw him winning 1 Stanley Cup in the 2006-07 season.
The star had 1,013 points in 1,150 games, as well as 120 points in 125 playoff games and remained fairly consistent throughout his career. Statistically he began to decline in the 2018-19 season as his team remained outside of a playoff spot.
I believe that Getzlaf will be a first ballot hall-of-famer in the next couple of years. The guy was a workhorse and it will be sad to see him retire.
Enjoy your retirement, Getzlaf.
